I spent years leading teams in a fast-paced, high-pressure industry. We moved fast. Targets were real. I was a chronic high performer—awards, promotions, more responsibility.

But the cost was heavy. Long hours. Saying yes to too much. Trying to please everyone. Pushing for perfection—in myself and in others. Even as the wins piled up, my confidence shrank. I kept chasing a moving bar: be the perfect leader at work and the perfect wife and mother at home. I was unintentionally sacrificing my loved ones—too exhausted to be my best and often unavailable because of work. It wasn’t sustainable.

I wanted to be the leader I needed—“I’ve got you,” not “you’re on your own.” So I laid out the steps to make it easier and build their skills—and without meaning to, I was still telling them what to do. My team leaned on me; I carried the weight—and they didn’t grow.

Then came the breaking point—burnout. It forced a change. I set boundaries. I focused on what mattered. I started naming what “good” looked like, asked my team to own it, and we kept each other accountable—no micromanaging, just clear follow-through. They grew stronger. I became healthier, calmer, and more focused—and found work-life balance.

That lesson fuels everything I do today.

Resilience keeps performance—and people—going.

That’s why it sits beside results in my work.
